Rambi the Rhinoceros is a rhinoceros-like Animal Buddy that appears in the Donkey Kong series. He was replaced by Ellie in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.

History[]

Donkey Kong Country[]

In Donkey Kong Country, Rambi first appears in the game's first level, Jungle Hijinxs. When he is freed from his Animal Crate, Donkey or Diddy Kong can ride him and make use of his power. His abilities in this game include the ability to kill enemies by ramming into them with his large horn (including Zingers) and break down breakable walls with his horn. He also runs faster than either DK or Diddy Kong.

Donkey Kong Land[]

In Donkey Kong Land, Rambi plays exactly the same as in Donkey Kong Country.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[]

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Rambi again first appears in the first stage, Pirate Panic. In this game, his abilities are upgraded so that he now has a charge attack which is performed by holding and releasing the A button in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version and R in the Game Boy Advance version. The charge attack is needed to break down walls as Rambi. Also, in addition to riding him, Diddy and Dixie Kong will also be transformed into him in some levels.

Donkey Kong Land 2[]

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Rambi plays exactly the same as in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Donkey Kong 64[]

In Donkey Kong 64, Rambi appears in Jungle Japes and Hideout Helm. Donkey Kong transforms into Rambi when he jumps into his Animal Crate. Rambi's moves are identical to those in DKC2.

Donkey Kong Racing[]

Rambi was to appear as a rideable creature in Donkey Kong Racing as seen in the trailer, but has been cancelled, due to Rare moving to Microsoft. Taj can be seen riding a small red Rambi in the start, Diddy can be found riding a giant Rambi and Donkey is seen riding a regular Rambi.

Diddy Kong Pilot[]

Rambi appears in Diddy Kong Pilot as an item temporarily allowing invincibility. Rambi is the equivalent to the Golden Feather from Banjo-Pilot.
