Captain Blubber is an anthropomorphic Hippopotamus and character from the Banjo-Kazooie series. He is a pirate who wears a pirate hat, a pair of boots and red-&-black striped pants complete with a sword attatched to the belt. In his first two games, belt is dark red and the sword is positioned on his right side of his hip and in his third game, the belt is brown and the sword is positioned to the other side. In his first two games, his boots are black and in his third game they are not only brown but also a little worn out. A set of red feathers is added on top of his hat and a picture of the pirate symbol is on the front of the hat in the same game. He additionally wears a golden earring and his pants also gets a blue patch due to its aging. His sword's blade is rusted in the same reason.

Captain Blubber's first appearance was in Banjo-Kazooie, where he is encountered on his ship, the Salty Hippo in Treasure Trove Cove. It seems Captain Blubber had somehow beached his ship on Treasure Trove Cove and lost his treasure within the water-logged vessel and asks Banjo to get it back for him, Captain Blubber, despite being a Hippo and sailor, being unable to swim.

Banjo must venture into the Salty Hippo and get Captain Blubber's gold for him and bring it to the surface and give it to Captain Blubber. After doing this, a grateful Captain Blubber will give Banjo a Jiggy and take his gold and abandon his ship.

In Banjo-Tooie, it seems Captain Blubber used his gold to set-up a "Waveracer" shop in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, though this business attempt ultimately failed. He then sold Banjo his Turbo Trainers for one Doubloon. Eventually though, Captain Blubber managed to earn enough money from a trivia contest to buy a "flying craft", the Saucer of Peril from Witchyworld.
