A Banana is the most common item in the Donkey Kong series, and it appears in nearly every game. They look exactly like their real-world equivalent, with a yellow peel and a soft inside. Collecting 100 of these gives a Kong an extra life. There are also many other forms of Bananas, like Banana Bunches, worth ten Bananas, and Banana Birds.
In Donkey Kong 64, bananas are color-coded, meaning that each color can only be collected by a certain Kong (e.g. Donkey Kong can only collect yellow bananas, Diddy Kong can only collect red bananas, etc.).
